How grades are calculated
For a single score, percentage equals earned points divided by possible points, multiplied by 100. Without weights, the course result uses total earned points divided by total possible points.
Using weighted grades
If any weight is entered, each row contributes its score multiplied by its weight. For a complete course, the weights should normally total 100%. The calculator shows the current weight total.
Grading scales vary
Schools and countries use different grade boundaries. Choose a preset or customize the minimum percentage for each letter. Always compare the result with your institution’s official policy.
How Weighted Grades Are Calculated
A grade calculator combines scores and weights to estimate a course result. In a weighted system, each score is multiplied by its weight and the products are added. Weights should normally total 100 percent.
How to use this tool
Enter each assessment name, score and weight from the official syllabus. Check whether the teacher uses percentages, points, dropped scores or category weights because those methods are not interchangeable. Use the result to explore scenarios, such as the score needed on a remaining exam.
Important limitations
The calculator cannot account for undocumented adjustments, attendance rules, curves or instructor discretion. Treat the output as an estimate and confirm the official grade in the school system.
